The Nomads 1909 clubhouse takes its name from the original Oxford rugby club team founded in 1909 who were a nomadic group playing matches on numerous Oxford College grounds. The refurbished clubhouse exhibits many pictures from those early days but the fully renovated rooms and grounds are suitable to hire for modern day events.
Fitted with an abundance of modern furniture in the bar and main hall over 120 guests can be seated for dinners or if standing the clubhouse can cater for over 150. The kitchen was upgraded in 2021 and is suitable for outside caterers and the club caterers to use.
The main hall has multiple uses from parties using the clubs sound system and sound activated lights or for corporate meetings and training courses. The club has wifi throughout and in all the rooms clients can connect laptops to large screen televisions.
The hall connects via a small patio to the playing fields. The club has 3 full size pitches two of which have excellent floodlights and available for hire with changing room use and showers.

Set between the M40 and the M4 with a dual carriageway connection along the A34 Oxford Rugby club is ideally located to serve the county and the country. We are a preferred centre for England Touch whose players travel from Lancashire, Kent and Cornwall. Yet we are the home for Botley scouts and a venue for many sports presentation evenings. Sadly we do a wake very well and are a popular venue for christenings.
Several Oxford companies such as Nielsens and Oxford Archeology use the club for corporate bonding days whilst on a smaller scale the small meeting room is used for strategy meetings.
The hire costs depend on usage but are kept as low as possible. We know our market and cater for it very well. Please note the club will not accept a booking without meeting the clients in person.
Yes, it is possible to camp at Oxford RFC if you are attending an event in the Nomads 1909 Clubhouse. Dogs are welcome on a lead with a responsible owner who will keep them away from the playing surfaces.
The Nomads 1909 bar is a free-house and is not tied to any brewery. We stock an array of draught lagers, ciders and ales along with the best Guinness in town. For those special events we can cover most requests and are able to organise first drink free or whatever a client needs.
The club has its own brand of Nomads 1909 Red and White wine and of course the ever popular Proscecco. For the end of the night there are numerous popular shots to choose from to finish you off.
Every booking is different with different needs and timings. It is possible to extend the time the bar and clubhouse is open but it is only possible with the agreement of the events manager who can be contacted on [email protected]
The main hall is separate from the bar and can be hired separately.
The main hall is 14m x 7m and can comfortably seat 64 around 8 tables of 8 leaving room to walk around. For a disco party then 90 can get close and personnel.
There is a small stage usually used by a disco or as a comfortable chill out area. The room is fitted with bluetooth speakers and sound activated lights which can save clients over £200.
At one end is a new large screen SMART television for anyone wishing to present to an audience. WIFI is available but limited to presenters. It is not powerful enough for an audience.
The hall connects to the outside and to the kitchen making outdoor use and catering very easy.
The kitchen was fitted out in 2021 with a 6 burner gas cooker, griddle and chip fryer. Many clients use paper plates but there is enough cutlery and crockery to serve 64 guests. As for dishwashing the strain has been taken away with the installation of a commercial machine which hygienically cleans everything.
